Coffee County Arts Alliance
In order to serve the Wiregrass through the arts, the Coffee County Arts Alliance brings performers and performances of all genres to the community. This Alliance has strongly encouraged people of all ages to display their artistic talents for the past 40 years. Along with their helpful influences of talent, they are also playing a vital role for broadening the visual arts in schools. They are encouraging and helping to shape the younger generation to apply themselves artistically by giving them the ability to do so. Throughout their seasons, they are providing a major gateway for school age and college students to participate in the arts.
The Coffee County Arts Alliance 2016-2017 season has an amazing lineup starting this October. Larry Gatlin and The Blackwood Quartet will be performing October 25, 7pm, at Enterprise High School to start it off. Both Larry Gatlin and The Blackwood Quartet are Grammy Award winners. Larry Gatlin is known for being a country legend and is also credited as a southern gospel singer and songwriter. The Blackwood Quartet has won eight Grammys and has been inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame.
For the rest of the season, there will be several other acts to look forward to. The Atlanta Pops Orchestra will be performing in November. This Orchestra has traveled the world performing a diverse repertoire of well-known music. In addition to the Atlanta Pops Orchestra, the Enterprise State Community College concert choir and the Elba High School show choir will be joining in to highlight some of the selections. Following will be a broadway musical that celebrates the simple things of life, called, “Pump Boys and Dinettes.” This musical stars four gas station attendants and two waitresses who sing and play all manner of instruments including kitchen utensils. And if you are missing the King of Pop, do not miss their Michael Jackson tribute concert, “MJ Live.” Here you will get to hear all of the songs that made Michael so memorable.
Next March, Coffee County Arts Alliance will be bringing the annual Piney Woods Arts Festival to Enterprise. Piney Woods features original art and crafts by a variety of artists, a children’s fun center, food and entertainment. For the kids, there will be a petting zoo, face paint, pony rides and bouncy castles. There is a variety of local bands that will be performing as well, along with choirs and dance groups. Special events include a Civil War Living Display and the Weevil City Cruisers Car and Truck Show. Admission to this event is completely free. There is also a student art exhibit that you will not want to miss.
