Get creative with your costumes

pop art makeup on womanWell folks, it’s the most wonderful time of year…Halloween! WOOHOO! Who is as excited as I am? I go all in for Halloween…or all out…whatever. I love to decorate my house, which I did September 1st, and I love the movies that come on, the TV specials (hello Halloween Wars on Food Network), and I LOVE to plan my costume(s). I have done some awesome ones the past few years including: the Black Dahlia, a plastic surgery patient, a possessed nun, Carrie, and a dead Marie Antoinette. This year I am super excited about my costume! I’m not gonna tell y’all what it is, but it’s gonna be good. For those of you not sure what to be this year…never fear, I am here!…to help! I’ve compiled a list of costume ideas for almost any type you could want.

Super Easies

  • Addams’s Family characters
  • pop art/Lichtenstein
  • ’80s/’90s…think Saved by the Bell, Clarissa Explains it All, Britney Spears, David Bowie (Labyrinth)
  • monsters…the Mummy, Frankenstein, Dracula (although I met with him while doing research for this article, and he mentioned that he hates it when people dress up as him inaccurately. To make sure you don’t cross him…check out SEACT’S show “Dracula” coming this October!…that way you can portray him correctly and you won’t become his next victim!)

  • Big Lebowski characters (this would be good as a group or single)
  • Guy Fieri (guy or girl…because that makes it even better)
  • SNL characters (any of Will Ferrell’s, any of Kristen Wiig’s, Spartan cheerleaders, Chris Farley Chippendales…)
  • Dwight from the Office

  • Beekeepers and little bees
  • Peter Pan & the lost boys (or Peter Pan and Wendy, Hook, Tink, etc.)
  • Circus family (strong man, bearded lady, clown, etc.)
  • the Incredibles

  • Golden Girls
  • GLOW girls/cast (an 80s centered women’s wrestling Netflix original that is SO GOOD!)
  • Bob’s Burgers family/characters
  • Stranger Things characters

  • Lizzie Borden (Y’all this would be AMAZING!!)
  • the vampires from “30 Days of Night” … creepy as hell
  • any of the ghosts from “Thirteen Ghosts”
  • remake of vintage Halloween costumes

  • Sam & Suzy from “Moonrise Kingdom”
  • Netflix & Chill
  • Marty McFly & Doc Brown (Back to the Future)
  • peanuts & Cracker Jacks (so cute!)

There are so many other options…but these will get you started! Be safe and have a fun Halloween!

P.S. Please let’s be a little more original than “cute” cats and deer … it’s been done.
