It’s a dragon…The thing that gave me all the grey in my beard. That damn dragon…If you would have told me that I was going to need to know how to reduce electric motor RPM by like 100% I probably would have paid attention during all thems maths classes…Probably should have paid attention in that ol’ talking course too. Anyway, yeah, we built a dragon float for Mardi Gras and as I type this we still have some things to wrap up. It’s also the Wednesday before the parade, so we have work to do.
It is a big undertaking, building a parade float. Since we have started I have been using calculus, geometry and the trusted trial and error method. I figured out that if you need to slow down a pulley, you can do that with maths. How much else did I miss in school?! Sometimes being the “Punchline Prince” of Dothan High School 2001 reveals its drawbacks and makes me a little regretful. Where would I be if I had only cared about things that other people felt were important?
Probably still working as an underappreciated employee somewhere, to be honest. I would definitely not be building air cannons and dragons or working with very many inspirational peeps. No matter what life choices you make, there are always opportunities for you to #Bewhatshappening! Go find them.
