The Local’s Holiday Gift Guide
Now that Thanksgiving in its infinite glory has passed, the holiday season is officially in full swing, leaving less than a month to figure out the perfect gift for everyone on your list and then actually find it (Unless you’re one of those weirdoes who gets their gift-shopping done throughout the year). Finding a gift that you know someone is going to love is one of the best feelings, and the Wiregrass has no shortage of businesses to ensure that every person on your list gets something they will remember.
FOR THE FREE SPIRIT ON YOUR LIST,
I recommend checking out Lunation in Enterprise! Offering everything from tarot cards to essential oils to a variety of teas, this place is sure to satisfy your inner hippie. Besides their knick knacks and such, (which I could spend all day browsing through) they also offer various clothing ranging in style from steampunk to Bohemian.
FOR THE BIBLIOPHILE ON YOUR LIST,
Maggie’s Used Books is one of the cutest bookstores we have in town! The place is packed from floor to ceiling with gently-used books, as well as some CD and DVD options. They also offer a trade program, so if you know what book(s) your cherished bibliophile is on the prowl for then you can kill two birds with one stone: get rid of some dog-eared books you tried and didn’t like, and use the store credit to get your book-lover one they will like. As packed as this place is with books, you might even find something for yourself while gift-shopping.
FOR THE COMIC/GAME ENTHUSIAST ON YOUR LIST,
Dothan FANATIX is the obvious (and correct) choice. With products ranging from comic books to board games, it’s impossible to not find something to satisfy the gift recipient’s geeky nature. Board & Table, FANATIX’s attached coffee shop, also has mugs on sale that come with a free drink coupon, a perfect thing to pair with a manga or comic book.
FOR THE HOMEMAKER/HOME DECOR AFICIONADO ON YOUR LIST,
Naomi & Olive is a decorator’s paradise. With an inventory ranging from local art to vintage furniture, you can shop big or small. Even if the person you’re buying for isn’t necessarily a decor enthusiast, Naomi & Olive has something for everyone, also offering things like candles and bath and body products. The owner, Ms. Keyton, is such a sweet lady and would be happy to help you find the perfect gift for someone.
Make an effort to stay local this holiday season and support Wiregrass local businesses! Chances are, you’ll find the same thing or something better than what you would’ve found at a large chain store. Happy Holidays and Happy Shopping!
