From the Publisher (March 2016)
Many things happen and go unnoticed. Every day people get up, go to work and hopefully make a difference. The difference you make is up to you. I have always believed in supporting the people who support you. That’s what The Local is all about. We are a locally-owned and operated publication with no parent company, no outside funding and an office full of passion. Each of our writers and sales people know the importance of supporting local business. Our team is driven by the love for small business. And right now, that is more important than ever.
Many changes are happening in the area. A lot of people are working together to facilitate the changes that they want to see. We had a sold out concert at The Dothan Opera House last month. That is HUGE! We want to see more of that! Toadlick is a great example of positive change. Not everything happens overnight, and we are glad to be a part of the growth and evolution of the Wiregrass.
Hopefully in the coming months we will see some more events like the Saint Paul and the Broken Bones concert that we had at The Dothan Opera House. There is definitely a demand for such events, it just takes people getting off their couches and into the venues. Let’s get hyped about creating a future that we will enjoy; a future of which we can be proud. Without an awesome quality of life, what kind of awesome stories will you be telling your kids and grandkids?
There are some mindsets that would avoid change at all cost, and in a lot of cases avoiding change can cost it all.
