From the Publisher (October 2016)
It’s finally October! Hands down, the best month of the year. Leaves make their way from branches and into the yard, temperatures make their way from the 90’s to the low 80’s and after almost 8 years, my long-term girlfriend’s last name will change to mine (cheers to that!). Recently I’ve developed a habit of saying that this time is one of the greatest times to be in the Wiregrass, since so much in our area is changing. Every month we push forward and expand our comfort zones by trying new things, and I challenge you to take advantage of all the amazing things going on around us.
October will be host to a number of incredible events for you to be a part of. Events where you will meet new people, try new foods or drink or hear a new-to-you musician. Go find your new favorite things. Check out Parker Millsap at the Dothan Opera House. Check out Annika Chambers at McLeods. Go see Grammy Award-winning Larry Gatlin at Enterprise High School. Not to mention, all of the tons of other musical performances around here. And that’s just the musical talent that is currently on display in the Wiregrass! Beyond that, we have the upcoming SEACT show that you can read about in this issue.
Every month a lot of us put in a lot of work to keep promoting our area. Make sure you heavily support our advertisers so that we may continue to show you how to #bewhatshappening. Thank you so much for grabbing this free pile of paper to find out what’s going on! And be sure to give us feedback by following us on Facebook, Instagram and subscribing to the Local Podcast.
