Top 5 Hair Trends for Fall 2018

It’s fall, y’all! Fall. My favorite time of the year! The leaves are changing, everything smells and tastes like pumpkin spice, haunted houses will be opening soon, boots can be worn, jeans will be a staple and hair has exciting things happening. Hair colors are poppin’, glass-like and blunt. Here are the top 5 hair trends for fall.

Can you say copper?

Look for this fancy word, “Cuivre”, it’s going to be all over the place and it’s French for copper. Think brilliant reds that are super shiny. This fall’s new copper isn’t brassy; it’s healthy looking and looks great on both dark and fair complexions.

Rose gold with a twist.

This year stylists are adding copper undertones making the rose gold darker and more natural looking.

Blonde isn’t just exciting in summer anymore.

This fall when we talk blonde we are talking honey, beige and margarine. Honey hair is the perfect transition from summer platinum blonde to a slightly darker fall blonde. Beige is about skin tone and how closely your stylist can match it. Margarine hair is a step out of the cool blonde shades and back into a yellow blonde but not brassy….think buttery.

Blunt bobs!

Tired of the same old look? Chop it off. Go Blunt. Think hair that is all one length all the way around just below your ears, perhaps your jawline, shoulders or collar bones. Ask your stylist how dramatic to go. They will best be able to tell you how short or how long your hair should be for your jawline, face shape and neck length.  I love this style because it can look casual or it can turn around and be dressy in two minutes. You can put your part down the middle or have a dramatic side part. It’s all up to the look your are going for.

Glass hair.

Glass is the new shine. Look for hair products that promise to leave your hair looking super shiny and that reflect light. Side note to my single ladies….back to caveman days shiny hair meant healthy hair which meant healthy probable mate. So, it may be worth a spritz of something that creates that “glass” look before you head out the door for girls’ night. Just saying.

There you have it. Go call your stylist right now and get a fresh new look for fall.

Remember that if you haven’t gotten a hair compliment in a while it’s time for a new look. If you can look through your last 3 years of Facebook profile pictures and you’re still sporting the same cut and color…’s time for a change.

I know it’s still 100 degrees in the south but it’s my favorite time of the year and if you see me I’ll have on my basic long sleeve t-shirts, jeans, boots, and be carrying a pumpkin spice latte….I’ll be sweating to death, but shiny is in, right??!

Happy Fall! Now go call your stylist.
