Whip up some ice cream with Joe Whaley

It’s summer and the living is easy; just not as easy as this ice cream. This is a basic recipe that you can flavor in a variety of ways. You’re only limited by your imagination.

Homemade Ice Cream

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 can Eagle brand sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 can Pet brand evaporated milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Mix all ingredients together. Then, pour into a standard size ice cream maker. Fill the rest of the way with milk. Keep the ice cream maker going until it slows down.

Possible Flavor Combinations:

Snickers Ice Cream

Add chocolate milk instead of regular milk. Also, add a cup of peanut butter and ½ cup of caramel sauce.

Peaches and Cream

Add 2 cups of fresh, diced peaches.

Banana Split

4 diced bananas, ½ cup chopped walnuts, 1 cup chopped cherries. Add chocolate sauce, strawberry sauce, and crushed after ice cream is done.

Samoa Ice Cream

Add ¾ cup of chocolate chips, ¾ cup of toasted, shredded coconut, and 1 tsp of coconut extract.

Ditch your boring burger toppings this summer! This will be your favorite new topping while grilling out with friends. This is also great for BLTs, crackers, and much more.

Tomato Jam

  • 3 lbs of ripe tomatoes
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 2 oranges (small diced and seeded) (leave peel on)
  • 1 lemon (small diced and seeded) (leave peel on)
  • 1 onion (small diced)
  • ⅛ tsp salt
  • Pinch red pepper flakes

Combine all ingredients in a pot and simmer 3-4 hours. Stir about every 20 minutes.

As always, keep on cookin’,
